The commander of the airborne troops (VDV) of Russia appointed a former chief of staff and first Deputy commander of the Southern military district, Colonel-General Andrey Serdyukov. It is reported by Kommersant, citing a source in the Russian defense Ministry.
Lieutenant-General Andrey Serdyukov was born in the Rostov region. He graduated from the Ryazan higher airborne command school, then Military Academy. M. V. Frunze. After graduating from the Military Academy of the General staff of the Russian armed forces entered the service of Deputy army commander in the far East military district (2009). Then became commander of the combined arms army of the Eastern military district (2011).
