Russian drones are involved in the exercises “Rubezh-2016” in Kyrgyzstan

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) “Orlan”, “Aileron” and “Outpost” are involved in practical actions on the teachings with the contingents of the organization of collective security Treaty (CSTO), “Boundary-2016” in the Republic of Kyrgyzstan, told RIA Novosti assistant commander of the CVO Colonel Yaroslav Roshchupkin.

“A group of unmanned aerial vehicles of the Central military district (CVO), which is composed of three types of UAV “Orlan”, “Zastava” and “Aileron” are applied for the exploration of twisty mountain roads and trails, as well as actions in the reconnaissance and firing circuits. Identified using the UAV positions and routes for the extension of the illegal armed groups strike bomber, attack and army aviation, conventional and rocket artillery and mortar units,” — said on Wednesday Roshchupkin.

During the current stage of the exercises the actions of the unmanned aircraft allowed us to detect, block and destroy conventional gangs numbering more than 150 people.

On the CSTO “Frontier-2016” units of the armed forces and law enforcement agencies work combating international terrorist organizations, which, according to legend, the exercise, attempted attacks on local authorities, attacked a military unit with the aim of seizing weapons and ammunition. In the maneuvers involved more than a thousand servicemen from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, some 200 armored vehicles and about 20 airplanes and helicopters. Practical action on the ground Edelweiss will last until 7 October.
